Nikita Kuzmin, best known for his dazzling performances on Strictly Come Dancing, was visibly emotional during his recent appearance on Loose Women. 

The professional dancer, currently touring the UK with the Strictly Come Dancing Live tour, took a break from his busy schedule to chat with the ITV panel on Friday (February 7). 

However, when the conversation turned to his family, who have been affected by the ongoing Ukraine-Russia conflict, the 27-year-old struggled to hold back tears.

A Busy Schedule on Tour

Nikita has been performing up and down the country as part of the Strictly Live tour, 

showcasing his incredible talent alongside fellow dancers and celebrity contestants from the 2024 series of Strictly Come Dancing. 

Originally set to appear as an ensemble dancer, his role quickly changed when he was asked to step in for Vito Coppola, who had to withdraw due to injury.

As a result, audiences across the UK, including those at Manchester’s AO Arena, have seen Nikita take to the dance floor with Miranda and The Job Lot actress Sarah Hadland. The pair have delivered stunning performances together, stepping up to the challenge despite the unexpected circumstances.

With the tour set to conclude on Sunday (February 9), Nikita has already begun focusing on his next big project—his first-ever solo tour, Midnight Dancer. But during his Loose Women interview, it was a more personal topic that left him struggling to contain his emotions.

Nikita’s Emotional Response to Family Struggles

During the interview, Loose Women host Kaye Adams asked Nikita about his family, prompting an emotional response from the dancer. With his loved ones directly impacted by the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia, Nikita spoke candidly about the struggles they continue to face.

“Well, how are they? That’s a good question,” he responded, taking a moment before continuing. “I try to keep communicating with them every single day… Life is not easy, and I don’t like pretending that everything is going beautifully, because it’s not.”

He went on to express frustration over the lack of attention the crisis is receiving in global news. “The fact that it’s not in the news anymore, it doesn’t give it any more attention and there’s not much help. But obviously, the governments are trying to help, and I’m really grateful for that.”

As his emotions got the better of him, Nikita added, “I just would love everybody to be safe. That’s about it.” The panel and audience responded with warmth and support, offering words of encouragement as he held back tears.

A Perfectionist in His Craft

Despite the emotional moment, Nikita also spoke passionately about his upcoming solo tour, Midnight Dancer. The show marks an exciting milestone in his career, and he admitted to being deeply involved in every aspect of its production.

During the conversation, the panel jokingly suggested that he might be a “control freak” due to his hands-on approach. Nikita didn’t deny it, explaining that he feels responsible for delivering the best possible experience to his audience.

“I’m trying to be across all departments at the moment,” he shared. “I’m across costume, I’m across staging, across music…”

He emphasized that he wants every element of the show to be exceptional, ensuring that those who attend feel their time and money were well spent.

“If people come to see my tour, if people give their hard-earned money and give me two hours of their time, I want the costume to be something they’ve never seen before. I want the show to be the best thing they’ve ever seen,” he explained.

The Power of Live Performance

Nikita also highlighted the unique magic of live theatre, emphasizing how it provides a rare opportunity for audiences to fully immerse themselves in the experience without distractions.

“That’s also the power of theatre… It’s the only place where you can hold the audience for two hours, there’s no phone in sight, and it’s just you and this,” he said. “I think it’s so powerful, and I feel I need to give the audience back everything they deserve.”

With the Strictly Live tour coming to an end, Nikita is pouring his energy into Midnight Dancer, a show that will allow him to showcase his artistry in an entirely new way.
