Johannes Radebe, the charismatic South African ballroom dancer known for his vibrant performances on *Strictly Come Dancing*, 

recently appeared on ITV’s *Lorraine* to discuss his upcoming projects, including his role in *Kinky Boots* and his best-selling memoir, *Jojo: Finally Home*. 

With his characteristic sass, humor, and grace, Johannes delved into his past, sharing the emotional journey of overcoming a difficult childhood, and his exciting plans for the future.

In the interview with host Ranvir Singh, Radebe spoke candidly about his experience of being bullied during his formative years in South Africa. 

As a gay child, he was subjected to relentless teasing and rejection for being “different.” Reflecting on this challenging period, Johannes explained 

that for a long time, he believed his painful story was something that should remain hidden. 

However, with encouragement from his agent, he was convinced that his narrative could inspire others, prompting him to write his memoir. The process of writing his story was not easy, as it forced him to confront deep emotional wounds. “So much has happened in my life that could have broken me, but it didn’t,” Johannes shared. His memoir, *Jojo: Finally Home*, has since become a Sunday Times bestseller and has resonated deeply with readers, earning high praise for its authenticity and vulnerability.

Johannes emphasized that his memoir was never meant to focus solely on him but rather to shed light on issues that are universally relatable. He acknowledged the power of storytelling, particularly in helping others feel seen and understood. Johannes was particularly excited about the costumes, which he called “glamorous” and an integral part of the show’s appeal.

*Strictly Come Dancing* fans will also see Johannes bring his signature energy to the *Kinky Boots* stage, where his character has been designed to “re-energize the brand.” To fully prepare for this new challenge, Johannes dedicated two years to singing training, focusing on building his confidence and ensuring he could do the role justice. “I was made for this role,” he confidently stated, adding that it felt like “destiny” to be part of the production. His commitment to his craft is evident, as he continues to expand his skill set and embrace new opportunities.
