Reality TV star Pete Wicks has reassured fans after they expressed concern over his noticeably slimmer appearance.
The I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here winner and Strictly Come Dancing 2024 contestant responded to speculation about his weight loss while chatting with his best friend
and podcast co-host, Sam Thompson, during a recent episode of their podcast, Staying Relevant.
Pete Wicks Opens Up About His Slimmer Look
During the discussion, Sam brought up the concerns from listeners, saying: “We’re getting a lot of people who are saying Pete’s lost a lot of weight, they’re worried about you.
I think you look great. You’re looking real good around the neckline, no wattle.”
Pete, who made it to the Strictly Come Dancing semi-finals before being eliminated, quickly set the record straight. He attributed his leaner look to his time on the show, explaining: “It’s Strictly. Do you know what it is? I’m just less swollen.”
Known for his signature sense of humor, Pete added: “I’ve got a jawline now rather than it looking like a thumb, which I think when I was drinking was the problem—it was just like a thumb in a wig.”
His remark suggests that the intense training schedule of Strictly—which involves hours of rehearsals and physically demanding routines—helped him shed weight and adopt a healthier lifestyle.
Strictly Journey and Support for Co-Stars
Pete Wicks had a strong run on Strictly Come Dancing alongside his professional dance partner, Jowita Przystal. The pair made it all the way to the semi-finals before being eliminated as the eleventh couple to leave the competition. However, they returned for the grand final, where they joined other contestants for a celebratory group performance, revisiting one of their most memorable moments from the series.
Despite his deep involvement in the competition, Pete opted not to join the Strictly Come Dancing Live tour in 2025. While his fellow contestants took to the stage in arenas across the country, Jowita continued to be part of the tour’s ensemble of professional dancers.
That didn’t stop Pete from showing his support. As the tour wrapped up on February 9, he made sure to be in the audience, cheering on Jowita and other Strictly stars, including EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick, Love Island alum Tasha Ghouri, and singer JB Gill.
Cheering on His Strictly Friends
Pete took to social media to share his enthusiasm for his co-stars’ performances, particularly Jamie Borthwick’s energetic jive to The Ketchup Song by Las Ketchup. In a playful message, Pete wrote: “Go on my little condiment king! @jamieb_10.”
He also praised Tasha Ghouri, calling her an “amazing dancer”, and posted a video snippet of her performance. His admiration extended to professional dancer Aljaž Škorjanec, whom he jokingly acknowledged in his post: “You ain’t bad either @aljazskorjanec.”
However, despite his Strictly experience, Pete admitted that he hadn’t quite maintained his dance skills. Sharing a clip of himself attempting to replicate his co-stars’ moves, he humorously confessed: “I’m still not in time.”
A New Chapter for Pete Wicks?
Following his time on Strictly, Pete seems to be embracing a healthier and more active lifestyle, though he has remained his usual lighthearted self when discussing his transformation. His toned-down drinking habits and intense training have clearly had an effect, leaving fans with a much leaner version of the former TOWIE star.
With his Strictly chapter closed, fans are eager to see what’s next for Pete Wicks. Whether he returns to reality TV, continues his podcasting ventures, or even takes up dancing again, one thing is for sure—he’ll keep his signature humor intact while doing it.
