Myleene Klass became emotional during her appearance on Loose Women on Monday
as she opened up about the heartbreaking miscarriages she suffered and the unexpected bond she formed with her midwife.
The 46-year-old singer and television personality, who is a proud mother of three,
struggled to hold back tears while discussing the deep connection she shares with her midwife, Pippa Nightingale.
An Emotional Conversation on Loose Women
During the episode, anchor Ruth Langsford, 64, introduced a discussion about the profound relationships formed between mothers and their midwives.
The topic stemmed from an emotional moment on Michael McIntyre’s Big Show, where Holly Willoughby, 44, was surprised by the midwife who helped deliver her daughter, Belle, now 13.
As Ruth, Myleene, and fellow panelists Linda Robson, 66, and Denise Welch, 66, reflected on their personal birthing experiences, Myleene shared her own moving story. She revealed how her journey to motherhood was filled with heartbreak, having endured four miscarriages before welcoming her youngest child.
Myleene’s Deep Bond with Her Midwife
Fighting back tears, Myleene spoke about her lasting friendship with her midwife, Pippa.
“That really gets me, that clip,” she said, referring to Holly’s emotional reunion with her midwife. “I love my midwife. We’ve become really good friends. It’s probably because we had quite a different setup.”
Unlike many expectant mothers who meet their midwives only during pregnancy and birth, Myleene explained that her relationship with Pippa developed over a four-year period due to her struggles with miscarriage.
“It’s not like I just met her on the day – Pippa Nightingale. She’s just remarkable,” Myleene continued. “We went through four years of miscarriages until I got my baby.”
At this point, her emotions overwhelmed her, and Ruth acknowledged the strength of the connection Myleene had with Pippa, asking, “That is a very, very strong connection?”
Myleene, visibly moved, responded, “I love her, yeah.”
Gathering herself, she elaborated: “I don’t think you get those relationships all the time with your midwife. I got to know her for four years. The joke was that it was her and my baby because I was in the clinic with her all the time. To go through five pregnancies to get my baby.”
A Lifelong Friendship
The Hear’Say singer went on to explain how the bond she formed with Pippa has extended far beyond the medical setting.
“That connection with another woman—you never knew you’d end up being friends. I never knew that Pippa and I would end up being friends. Now I’m at her birthday parties, now I know her family. We’ve kept that connection because she means so much to me. In my most vulnerable and in the most important days of my life… she was there.”
Her story resonated with Ruth, who revealed that she, too, had remained close to the midwife who helped deliver her son, Jack, whom she shares with Eamonn Holmes.
“He came to Jack’s birthday parties when he was young,” Ruth shared. “I remember when Holly said to her midwife, ‘We’re going to breathe this baby out’—I remember feeling that Maria and I birthed Jack together. I mean, Eamonn was there and he did what he could in that moment. But at that moment, I was relying on her.”
Myleene nodded in agreement, highlighting how the midwife’s presence during such a life-changing experience creates an unbreakable bond.
Myleene’s Family and Motherhood Journey
Myleene is a devoted mother to three children. She shares her daughters, Ava, 17, and Hero, 13, with her ex-partner Graham Quinn, whom she was with for 12 years. Her youngest child, Apollo, 5, is from her relationship with her fiancé, Simon Motson.
Myleene and Simon, who began dating in 2015, have built a loving blended family. Despite the challenges she faced in expanding her family, Myleene has always been open about her experiences with miscarriage and pregnancy loss, using her platform to raise awareness and support for other women facing similar struggles.
