Molly-Mae Hague, the well-known influencer and former Love Island star, has revealed that her engagement to Tommy Fury was not without its challenges. 

Speaking in her new Amazon Prime documentary, Behind It All, the 25-year-old reflected on the emotional rollercoaster leading up to Tommy’s picturesque proposal in Ibiza in July 2023.

Although Molly-Mae described the proposal as “perfect,” she admitted that cracks in their relationship had already begun to show. 

The couple, who share a 23-month-old daughter named Bambi, later shocked fans with their August 2024 split, 

which came amid rumors of infidelity—allegations that Tommy has strongly denied.

Tensions Before the Proposal

In the documentary, Molly-Mae recalled a heated argument that took place shortly before Tommy popped the question. Tommy had been acting “shady” while organizing the surprise, refusing to show Molly his phone. This secrecy led her to fear the worst, including the possibility of photos of “another woman” on his device.

Speaking candidly, Molly-Mae said, “Do you guys know the story about the fact that we had a big argument before this? He’d been acting shady, and we had taken some photos on Tommy’s phone. I asked to see them, but he wouldn’t let me, which immediately made me suspicious.”

She admitted that these fears consumed her right up until the moment of the proposal. “On the way to the engagement, I was literally staring out of the car window, thinking he might be hiding something. It’s pretty funny now, but at the time, I was really upset.”

Post-Engagement Struggles

The documentary also delves into deeper issues in their relationship, particularly during Molly-Mae’s sister Zoe’s wedding. Molly revealed that she begged Tommy to stay sober for the occasion, but he betrayed her trust by drinking. Reflecting on the experience, she became emotional, saying, “I pleaded with Tommy not to drink. It’s heartbreaking, and I don’t know why I’m crying now—it’s just really sad.”

Tommy later addressed his struggle with alcohol, explaining that it became a problem after a boxing injury left him sidelined. He admitted to Men’s Health, “I got addicted to alcohol and couldn’t be the partner I wanted to be. I loved a pint of beer, but it affected our relationship, and I have to own that.”

Molly-Mae’s Relationship with Alcohol

Molly-Mae’s feelings about alcohol are deeply rooted in her childhood. In the documentary, she revealed that her parents’ divorce led her mother, Debbie, to turn to alcohol during a vulnerable time. “I was about 14 or 15 and saw my mum in some difficult states. It shaped how I feel about alcohol today,” she shared.

While not completely abstinent, Molly-Mae avoids drinking and rarely participates in nights out. “I never wanted to be with someone who drank heavily because of what I experienced growing up. Alcohol caused problems in my family, and I never wanted to relive that,” she said.

Life After the Breakup

Despite their split, Molly-Mae remains focused on raising their daughter, Bambi. She expressed her heartbreak over the situation, stating, “I never wanted Bambi to come from a broken home. But when I look at Tommy, I see all the trauma from the past few months. I feel hurt and angry, but I know he’s struggling too.”

Tommy, for his part, has expressed hope for reconciliation. In his interview, he admitted, “I think Molly and I could come back together as a family one day. I just need to work on myself first.”

Moving Forward

Molly-Mae’s documentary Behind It All premiered on Prime Video on January 17, 2025, with the first three episodes now available globally. The remaining episodes are set to release in spring. Through this series, Molly-Mae provides fans with an intimate look at her personal life, sharing moments of joy, pain, and resilience as she navigates her journey as a mother and public figure.
