Under normal circumstances, bankruptcy in England and Wales is discharged after one year. However, in Katie’s case, her automatic discharge had been suspended.

On Tuesday, Insolvency and Companies Court Judge Sebastian Prentis lifted this suspension, backdating the discharge to December 7 of last year. This means that the bankruptcy order from her first financial collapse is now officially concluded. Her legal representative, barrister Darragh Connell, confirmed that the public examination related to this bankruptcy was formally concluded in open court.

However, Katie still faces financial challenges. She was declared bankrupt again in March last year over an unpaid tax bill exceeding £750,000. The public examination regarding this second bankruptcy has been postponed until April 8.

“Katie runs the risk of exhausting her body’s potential to recover and experiencing wound breakdown and infection,” he said. “Most worrying is the risk of a bleed, especially after facelift surgery, which involves a very delicate process. The sutures—stitches in layman’s terms—are at risk of shifting or even popping undone.”

He further warned that physical exertion, alcohol consumption, or even excessive laughter could lead to dangerous complications. “I have occasionally seen life-threatening hematomas develop, so Katie could be risking her life.”
