Jim Acosta shut down his longtime opponent, Greg Gutfeld of Fox News, by revealing a significant error from his past on social media.

Jim Acosta is not staying silent after Fox News host Greg Gutfeld took aim at his new independent online show.

The former CNN anchor responded with a mix of sarcasm and defiance, firing back at Gutfeld for his lengthy on-air ridicule.

Acosta Responds to Gutfeld’s Segment with a Sarcastic ‘Thank You’

Acosta, who recently launched his new show on Substack after parting ways with CNN, took to social media to address Gutfeld’s mocking segment on Gutfeld!.

In a tweet, Acosta thanked the Fox News host for the unexpected publicity while also taking a jab at him.

“Hey thanks for the plug @Gutfeldfox on your program,” Acosta wrote, before drawing a comparison between Gutfeld and fellow Fox News figure Sean Hannity.

“You’re as bad as Hannity,” Acosta added. “Don’t you guys have anything else to cover? That’s right. You can’t say anything critical of Trump or Musk! Sad! Hear my response later today on the show.”

Acosta’s pointed response was a direct reaction to Gutfeld’s segment the night before, where the conservative host spent several minutes ridiculing Acosta’s new venture.

Gutfeld Mocks Acosta’s Show for Low Budget and Small Audience

During his Fox News broadcast, Gutfeld did not hold back in his criticism, taking aim at what he described as the low-budget production value and limited audience of Acosta’s new platform.

“I think this show is sponsored by Windows 97,” Gutfeld quipped, mocking the apparent technical issues Acosta had encountered during some of his early broadcasts.

He also ridiculed Acosta’s claim that his new show was “real and unvarnished,” suggesting that it was a poor attempt at trying to reinvent himself.

“Bro out, yes. I can’t wait to see him and Tim Walz bobbing for tampons,” Gutfeld joked, referencing conservative criticisms of the Minnesota governor’s policies.

Gutfeld then aired a clip of Acosta discussing the importance of “insisting on the truth,” only to dismissively mock the former CNN anchor’s claim that he had received significant engagement from viewers.

“All the people watching and all the people leaving comments! What, three people?! You, and maybe two members of your family?!” Gutfeld sneered.

The Fox host further doubled down, suggesting that the only people tuning in to Acosta’s show were those looking for content to make fun of.

“Nobody said, ‘Hurry up honey, Jim Acosta is on!’” Gutfeld said, adding that just because someone has a recognizable name does not mean they have a built-in audience.

Acosta Gains Traction Despite Gutfeld’s Dismissal

While Gutfeld attempted to paint Acosta’s show as an irrelevant flop, the former CNN anchor has already amassed over 116,000 subscribers in just a few days since launching his independent platform. His recent broadcasts have also generated hundreds of comments, indicating a level of engagement that contradicts Gutfeld’s mockery.

Acosta, who spent nearly 20 years at CNN and gained national recognition as a fierce critic of former President Donald Trump, left the network last week. Reports suggested that CNN had offered him a shift to late-night programming—a move that some critics believed was designed to push him out. Rather than accept the change, Acosta chose to leave and start his own independent venture.

Trump himself reacted to Acosta’s departure with apparent delight, posting about the news online. In response, Acosta fired back with a jab, writing, “Looks like somebody has ADS: Acosta Derangement Syndrome.”

Acosta Vows to Keep Speaking Out

Despite the mockery from Fox News, Acosta has remained defiant. In his farewell speech on CNN, he warned against giving in to authoritarianism, stating, “It is never a good time to bow down to a tyrant.”

As he embarks on his independent journey, Acosta has made it clear that he will continue to challenge figures of power.

“Don’t give in to the lies. Don’t give in to fear. Hold on to the truth. Hold on to hope,” Acosta declared in his announcement of his new show.

Addressing his critics, particularly those aligned with Trump, he added, “You may think you have silenced me. But guess again.”

A Growing Rivalry Between Acosta and Fox News

The feud between Acosta and Fox News is nothing new. During his time at CNN, Acosta was frequently at odds with conservative commentators, often clashing with the Trump administration and its allies. Now, as he forges his own path, it seems that he will continue to be a favorite target of Fox News hosts like Gutfeld.

However, Acosta appears unfazed. If anything, the backlash from Fox News may only help boost his profile as he builds his independent platform. As the battle of words continues, one thing is certain—Acosta has no intention of backing down.
