Justin Baldoni has launched a new website where he shared a series of wild text messages exchanged with his *It Ends With Us* co-star, Blake Lively.
The messages, many of which are from 2023, offer a behind-the-scenes look at their professional relationship
and provide insight into Lively’s playful and creative approach to her role in the film.
One of the most striking texts was sent in April 2023, where Lively allegedly discussed a rewrite of the movie’s pivotal rooftop scene.
In her message, Lively shared her signature mix of humor and boldness, saying, “if you knew me (in person) longer you’d have a sense of how flirty and yummy the ball busting will play.
It’s my love language. Spicy and playfully bold, never with teeth….” This message exemplifies the actress’s fun and energetic approach to her role and hints at the dynamic she hoped to bring to the film.
During this time, Baldoni, 41, was also working on making the production more comfortable for the cast. He texted Lively, 37, to inform her that he had hired an intimacy coordinator for the film, and suggested they meet to discuss the logistics of working together. Lively, however, declined the meeting, stating, “I feel good. I can meet her when we start 🙂 thank you though!” Despite the rejection, the director seemed undeterred, and the collaboration between the two continued to evolve.
The month of April also saw Baldoni visiting Lively at her New York City apartment, where he was greeted by her husband, Ryan Reynolds. According to Baldoni, Reynolds praised the rooftop scene rewrite, expressing excitement about the film’s direction. Later, Taylor Swift—referred to as Lively and Reynolds’ “megacelebrity friend”—also visited the apartment, adding her own compliments to Lively’s work.
In addition to these behind-the-scenes interactions, Baldoni’s website also reveals a glimpse into the personal bond between the two stars. In one message exchange from May 2023, Lively and Baldoni joked around with each other in a lighthearted manner. Baldoni texted Lively, saying, “I like sentimental Blake,” to which Lively responded, “Never met her.” Baldoni then added, “I also like asshole Blake … don’t worry,” and Lively retorted with her own signature wit, saying, “I’ve met her. So have my suppositories.” These playful exchanges suggest a comfortable and friendly rapport between the co-stars.
While these lighter moments reveal a more humorous side of their interactions, the messages also hint at some of the more intense moments of the production. Baldoni admitted to feeling “f–king terrified” about navigating the sensitive subject of wardrobe changes for Lively’s character after receiving backlash from fans. This vulnerability speaks to the challenges of working on a highly anticipated project, where decisions and changes are often scrutinized by both critics and the public.
Baldoni’s website also shares a glimpse of Lively’s candid and professional approach to her work on the film. In June 2023, she allegedly invited Baldoni to her trailer to work on lines while she was pumping breast milk. Her text, “I’m just pumping in my trailer if you wanna work on our lines,” was met with Baldoni’s casual response, “copy. Eating with crew and will head that way.” This exchange highlights Lively’s grounded nature and her ability to balance motherhood with her acting career.
In addition to the personal texts, Baldoni’s website includes a link to an amended version of the $400 million defamation and extortion lawsuit he filed against Lively, Reynolds, and Lively’s publicist, Leslie Sloane, in January 2023. The lawsuit stems from a series of controversies surrounding *It Ends With Us*, adding a layer of legal complexity to the public revelations shared on the website.
As Baldoni continues to share these intimate and sometimes humorous text messages, it’s clear that the relationship between him and Lively went beyond mere professionalism. Their exchanges offer a unique and candid glimpse into the dynamics of a Hollywood set, as well as the personalities of two of its biggest stars. Whether discussing creative work or joking around, these messages show the strong, yet playful, bond between the director and actress.
