Hoda Kotb, former host of TODAY, shares the downsides of what occurs backstage on the show following each episode: “No one would ever want to experience something this frightening…”

Hoda Kotb is embracing a new chapter in her life with enthusiasm and gratitude.

Since stepping away from the Today show in January 2024, the beloved broadcaster has been adjusting to a different routine, prioritizing personal time and new opportunities.

However, she hasn’t slowed down—in fact, she’s thriving in her next adventure.

Over the weekend, Hoda made a special trip into New York City from her new home in the suburbs to attend a prestigious event

where she was honored for her contributions and impact.

Honored at the USA Today’s Women of the Year Event

Hoda attended the USA Today’s Women of the Year ceremony, which took place on March 4 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The event celebrates women who have made a significant impact in their industries and communities.

Backstage photos from the night, shared by journalist Lynda Lopez, captured Hoda beaming with joy as she accepted the prestigious honor. She looked radiant in a stylish black ensemble, marking the occasion with pride.

Lynda, who hosted the event, shared her excitement about the evening on Instagram, writing:

“It was an honor to kick off Women’s History Month by hosting USA Today’s Women of the Year—celebrating incredible women like @hodakotb and @ceoangelawilliams! Loved spending this beautiful evening with women who are beyond inspiring.”

During her acceptance speech, Hoda delivered a powerful message about the women who have influenced her journey:

“There’s a reason you’re in this room. Whether you’re getting an award or not, there was a woman behind you with two pom-poms who said, ‘Yes, you can.’”

She continued, paying tribute to those who have supported her and her fellow honorees:

“So tonight, we honor those women who brought us into this room on this beautiful night so that we could receive incredible awards on their behalf.”

Why Hoda Kotb Left the ‘Today’ Show

Following her departure from Today on January 10, Hoda sat down for an interview to discuss the decision behind her exit. After many years as a staple of morning television, she felt it was time to shift her focus.

“Like anybody who’s done anything for a long time, you feel safe and know what tomorrow is going to bring,” she explained. “I decided my kids needed more of my time pie, and I wondered what else I could do.”

The longtime journalist and TV personality, who turned 60 in August, shared that she wanted this next chapter to be different.

“I changed my life 8 million times in my 50s. Then I started thinking about my 60s, like, ‘Well, what’s that decade going to be about?’ Let’s make it something different; let’s be brave.”

Hoda is the proud mother of two daughters, Haley (7) and Hope (4), whom she adopted while working on Today. Her decision to leave was largely driven by her desire to spend more time with them during their formative years.

A New Book and a Fresh Start

Hoda’s new journey isn’t just about stepping away from television—it’s about embracing new opportunities. On March 10, she announced the release of her upcoming book, Jump and Find Joy, set to hit shelves on September 23.

Discussing the book on Today with Jenna & Friends, she explained its central theme:

“Everybody in their life, at one point, stands on the edge of something and says, ‘Should I jump?’”

She also reflected on her life after Today, describing the transition as “a warm hug” and expressing excitement for what lies ahead.

The Future of ‘Today’ Without Hoda

Since Hoda’s departure, Today has undergone some changes. Craig Melvin has stepped in to co-anchor alongside Savannah Guthrie, while Hoda’s former Fourth Hour co-host, Jenna Bush Hager, continues the segment with a revamped format.

Instead of finding a permanent replacement for Hoda, the segment has been rebranded as “Jenna & Friends”, featuring a rotating lineup of celebrity co-hosts each week.

Despite moving on, Hoda has remained close with her former colleagues. She has reunited with Savannah Guthrie and Jenna Bush Hager on multiple occasions, both on and off the air, showing that while she may have stepped away from the daily grind, her friendships and impact on the show remain strong.

A Bright Future Ahead

Hoda Kotb is proof that change can be a beautiful thing. As she moves forward in her career and personal life, she continues to inspire others with her courage, positivity, and willingness to embrace new opportunities.

Whether through her upcoming book, her advocacy for women, or simply spending more time with her daughters, Hoda is fully embracing this new chapter—and loving every moment of it.
