GMB’s Ranvir Singh left fans stunned as she disclosed the unexpected reason she chose to commit to a “long-term” romance with her 29-year-old boyfriend.

Television presenter Ranvir Singh has spoken candidly about the challenges she faced when embarking on her relationship with her younger partner, Louis Church.

The Good Morning Britain host, 47, has been dating 29-year-old Louis since September 2020

after meeting him during her stint on Strictly Come Dancing, where he worked behind the scenes.

In a recent interview, Singh opened up about the anxieties she experienced as a single mother welcoming a new partner into her life.

Her journey, marked by caution and self-reflection, sheds light on the realities of balancing personal happiness with the responsibilities of parenthood.

Navigating Love as a Single Mother

Singh, who shares a 12-year-old son, Tushaan, with her ex-husband Ranjeet Singh Dehal, admitted that beginning a new relationship was not a decision she took lightly. Now living with both Louis and her son, she reflected on the careful approach she took when integrating someone new into her family dynamic.

Speaking to OK! Magazine, Singh emphasized the thought process behind her decision. “I think anybody who’s been in the position I’ve been in plays it very cautiously,” she said. “It really isn’t just about you and your feelings. We can throw caution to the wind for ourselves, but when we have children, our foot is always hovering over the brake pad because you think, Hang on a minute, this isn’t just about me.”

She acknowledged that the decision wasn’t just about finding love, but about ensuring she had enough time for her son. “It’s not just about the relationship itself, but even thinking, Have I got the time to introduce somebody? I don’t want to dilute my time with my son,” she added.

Despite these initial hesitations, Singh believes that taking the leap was worth it. “Falling in love is a very brave decision,” she said. “To do it well is a lifelong journey.”

Reflecting on Her Journey as a Single Mother

In addition to discussing her relationship, Singh also reflected on the challenges she faced as a single mother. In December of last year, she revealed that she had secretly split from her ex-husband Ranjeet while she was seven months pregnant with Tushaan.

For years, it was widely believed that Singh and her ex-husband had separated in 2020, just before her Strictly Come Dancing appearance. However, she recently shared that she had been raising her son alone for over a decade.

Speaking on the White Wine Question Time podcast with Kate Thornton, Singh revealed, “I have actually been a single mum since I was seven months pregnant. I’ve kept that so quiet, but I am okay to talk about it now.”

She went on to explain that for a long time, she compartmentalized her personal struggles, keeping them private from the public eye. “Now I’m at a point in my life where I think that I’m learning to embrace my whole life and to not compartmentalize it as much, to keep everything separate. And that’s a me thing,” she admitted.

Despite the difficulties, Singh expressed gratitude for her experience as a single mother, saying she wouldn’t trade it for anything. She believes that her deep bond with her son stems from the years they spent as just the two of them. “There was no hiding place with my son and me. It meant that there’s a raw, open honesty in our relationship,” she shared.

Taking the Next Step with Louis Church

Having navigated years of single parenthood, Singh has now embraced the next phase of her life by moving in with Louis and creating a blended family. The broadcaster has given glimpses into their home life, revealing how they balance their relationship with everyday responsibilities.

Speaking about her morning routine, she told The Telegraph, “At 5:30 a.m., I try to talk myself back to sleep, but it doesn’t always work. I get up, make a decaf tea, and start chopping an onion for a dahl for lunch.”

She also shared a relatable frustration with her partner. “My partner Louis is terrible. He always hits snooze every ten minutes – it drives me mad!”

During weekends, Singh enjoys quality time with Louis, her son, and their pet dog. “At 11 a.m., we go for a family dog walk with our cockerpoo, Shmizzels, in the Chiltern Hills. At this time of year, I live in my knee-high furry UGG boots – they’re my best investment! I’m makeup-free at the weekend and don’t care what I look like,” she added.

Breaking Stereotypes and Embracing Happiness

Singh’s openness about her relationship has also highlighted the ongoing societal conversation around age-gap relationships. At 47, dating a partner nearly 18 years younger has drawn attention, but she remains unbothered by any judgment.

Her willingness to speak about her initial anxieties, her journey as a single mother, and her ultimate happiness with Louis showcases a refreshing perspective on love and personal fulfillment.

Singh’s story is a reminder that while entering a new relationship as a parent comes with unique challenges, finding happiness is always a possibility—no matter the circumstances.
