Ant and Dec appeared shaken while recalling Simon Cowell’s narrow escape from an assassination attempt during Britain’s Got Talent filming: “He was unbelievably fortunate to survive…”

Britain’s Got Talent is gearing up for its highly anticipated 18th season,

promising a mix of jaw-dropping performances, heartwarming stories, and, as always, a dose of high-stakes danger.

However, this year’s auditions delivered a moment so intense that longtime hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly feared for judge Simon Cowell’s safety.

Ant and Dec’s Terrifying Moment

Speaking to the press ahead of the show’s launch, Ant revealed that one particular act left both him and Dec genuinely concerned.

“There’s a lot of danger this year,” Ant shared. “There was a moment this year where we were scared for Simon Cowell’s life. Genuinely, it was all a bit scary!”

The hosts remained tight-lipped about the specifics of the act in question, but their reaction suggests that viewers are in for a nerve-wracking moment when the episode airs.

Given BGT’s history of daring stunts—from knife-throwing acts to fire-based performances—fans are already speculating about what could have possibly left Ant and Dec fearing for Simon’s well-being.

Simon Cowell and His History with Dangerous Acts

As a judge on Britain’s Got Talent since its launch in 2007, Simon Cowell has witnessed—and even participated in—some of the show’s most dangerous performances. He has faced knife-throwing stunts, fire acts, and daredevil acrobatics, often from a front-row seat.

Back in 2022, during an America’s Got Talent audition, a stunt duo performed a knife-throwing routine that saw blades fly within inches of Simon’s head. The moment left the entire judging panel and audience on edge, highlighting Cowell’s willingness to put himself in the line of fire—sometimes literally.

With Ant and Dec now admitting they feared for his safety in the upcoming BGT series, it seems like Simon’s risk-taking has reached a whole new level.

Ant and Dec’s Playful Prank on the Judges

Despite the tension and high stakes, Ant and Dec made sure to inject some humor into this season’s auditions, particularly at the expense of Simon and his fellow judges.

Dec revealed that they had some fun by customizing a special Golden Buzzer vehicle for the judges’ arrival at auditions. However, what the judges didn’t realize was that Ant and Dec had secretly altered the car while they were inside.

“We made a slight tweak to it whilst they were actually in the car, so they didn’t see fully what we’d done,” Dec explained. “They were driving through Blackpool with a bit of a cheeky picture of Simon on the side, which he didn’t realize.”

As the car made its way through the streets of Blackpool, locals couldn’t stop pointing and laughing. Simon, unaware of the prank, assumed they were simply admiring his ride—until the truth was revealed later.

What to Expect in BGT 2024

With the new season set to debut soon, Britain’s Got Talent is shaping up to be one of its most exciting yet. The show will feature a fresh batch of hopefuls, each bringing their unique talents in the hopes of impressing the judges—Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and Bruno Tonioli.

From death-defying stunts to laugh-out-loud comedy acts, BGT has always delivered a mix of entertainment, but this year, it seems the danger element is higher than ever. Ant and Dec’s recent revelation only adds to the anticipation, leaving fans eager to see just how perilous this mystery act turned out to be.

With the competition tougher than ever and the Golden Buzzer up for grabs, the upcoming season promises unforgettable moments, surprises, and, as always, a few near-heart-stopping performances.

Final Thoughts

While Britain’s Got Talent is known for pushing boundaries, this latest season appears to have raised the stakes in terms of danger. With Ant and Dec openly admitting they were terrified for Simon Cowell’s safety, fans are on the edge of their seats wondering what kind of stunt could have caused such a reaction.

Whether it’s a knife-throwing act, a fire stunt, or something completely unexpected, one thing is for sure—this season of Britain’s Got Talent will have audiences holding their breath. And with Ant and Dec leading the way, there’s no doubt it’ll be an unforgettable ride.
