Pete Wicks made an early exit from a BRIT Awards afterparty following an uncomfortable run-in with his ex-girlfriend, Maura Higgins.
The former couple, who ended their relationship earlier this year, reportedly went out of their way to avoid each other at the event.
A Tense Encounter on the Red Carpet
Pete and Maura, who briefly dated last year, were both in attendance at the BRITs and later found themselves at the same exclusive afterparty hosted by Universal Music.
However, rather than interacting, they kept their distance throughout the evening.
Their split, which reportedly happened on Valentine’s Day, was said to have been caused by tensions over Pete’s close friendship with Olivia Attwood, his co-host on a new radio show.
A source revealed that while Maura has no issue with Olivia, their dynamic may have contributed to the breakup.
“As far as Maura’s concerned, she doesn’t have any problems with Olivia and would always be polite if they crossed paths. Any rumors of a feud or competitiveness between them have always confused her.”
Pete and Maura Kept Their Distance
Despite being at the same event, Pete and Maura remained separate throughout the night. According to reports, Pete only made a brief appearance at the party before deciding to leave early, sticking close to Olivia the entire time.
An insider shared, “Pete and Maura were both at the afterparty but did not interact. Pete was only there for a short while, while Maura stayed out until around 2 a.m., having a great time with her I’m A Celebrity pals Danny Jones and Oti Mabuse, as well as TikTok star Luke Hamnett.”
While Maura appeared to be enjoying herself, Pete kept a low profile and reportedly left with Olivia and their podcast co-host Sam Thompson. The trio were seen getting into a taxi together, avoiding any further awkward encounters.
A Relationship That Was Never Meant to Last?
Pete and Maura’s romance had been relatively low-key, with the pair avoiding going public for much of their time together. Their relationship was described as “on and off,” with insiders revealing that their connection was strong but often met with challenges.
A source close to the couple confirmed that their decision to part ways was mutual. “Maura and Pete have decided to call off their romance. There were a few clashes, and they ultimately agreed they were better off as friends. Those who know them well understand that their relationship was never entirely stable, which is why they were hesitant to make it public. However, they remain close and still have a deep connection.”
Maura Shines on the BRITs Red Carpet
While the night may have been tense between the exes, Maura certainly made an impression at the BRITs. The Love Island star turned heads on the red carpet with a stunning ensemble and appeared to be in high spirits throughout the event. She embraced the celebrations, staying out until the early hours of the morning and enjoying the company of her friends.
Pete, on the other hand, maintained a lower profile, keeping his focus on his professional commitments and his close friendship with Olivia. Their partnership has gained attention as they prepare to launch their new radio show together.
Moving Forward Separately
Despite their brief encounter at the BRITs, it seems both Pete and Maura are ready to move on with their respective lives. While their romance may have come to an end, they continue to share mutual friends and will likely cross paths in the future.
For now, Maura appears to be focusing on her career and enjoying life as a single woman, while Pete is prioritizing his new projects and maintaining his strong bond with Olivia and Sam. Their BRITs afterparty encounter may have been awkward, but it’s clear both are looking ahead rather than dwelling on the past.
