Breakthrough with GMTV and ITV

After leaving Channel 4, Shephard transitioned to ITV in 2000, where he joined GMTV. He initially co-hosted Entertainment Today alongside Jenni Falconer before stepping up as a main presenter for GMTV Today, taking over from Eamonn Holmes.

His work on GMTV cemented his status as a dependable morning show host, leading to further opportunities within ITV. During the early 2000s, he also hosted ITV2’s The Xtra Factor, the spin-off to The X Factor, before Dermot O’Leary eventually took over the main hosting duties.
