UNEXPECTED: Several Loose Women stars announced they will NOT RETURN to the show in the near future. What’s the reason?

In a landmark moment for daytime television, ITV’s “Loose Women” celebrated its 25th anniversary with a series of unprecedented events,

marking a quarter-century of engaging discussions and groundbreaking conversations.

A Silver Jubilee Celebration

On September 6, 2024, “Loose Women” commemorated its silver jubilee by unveiling a stunning portrait featuring 18 of its prominent panellists.

The image showcased original members from the 1999 debut—Jane Moore, Kaye Adams,

Nadia Sawalha, and Ruth Langsford—alongside long-standing contributors like Janet Street-Porter and Coleen Nolan, each having appeared in over 1,000 episodes.

Newer faces such as Christine Lampard, Judi Love, and Frankie Bridge also graced the portrait, symbolizing the show’s evolution over the years.

Reflecting on the show’s impact, Ruth Langsford noted, “I have noticed a huge difference in how much more open people are about talking about difficult subjects. I believe that we have helped bring that about because we bring honesty to the show.”

The 25-Hour Talkathon: A First in Show History

Demonstrating its commitment to fostering meaningful conversations, “Loose Women” embarked on a historic 25-hour “Talkathon” starting on December 5, 2024. This marathon event, a first in the show’s history, was part of ITV’s “Britain Get Talking” campaign, aiming to destigmatize discussions around mental health. The continuous broadcast featured a mix of heartfelt discussions, special guest appearances, and lighthearted segments, all streamed live on ITVX and STV Player.

Editor Sally Shelford emphasized the event’s significance: “We always say on the show that the viewers are the fifth Loose Woman, and we aim to do as much as we can to help raise awareness of the issues that affect them most.”

In February 2025, the show announced another milestone: the launch of the “Loose Women” podcast. Set to debut in March to coincide with International Women’s Day, the podcast promises to delve deeper into topics that resonate with its audience, offering behind-the-scenes insights and extended discussions beyond the constraints of live television. Host Kaye Adams shared her excitement, stating, “We’re going to delve even deeper into the issues that matter most to you.”

A Legacy of Breaking Taboos and Fostering Dialogue

Since its inception in 1999, “Loose Women” has been at the forefront of daytime television, addressing topics ranging from domestic abuse and menopause to mental health and personal grief. The show’s willingness to tackle subjects once considered taboo has not only resonated with viewers but has also contributed to broader societal conversations. Denise Welch, a long-standing panellist, reflected on the platform’s impact: “For the 23 years that I’ve been on the show, I’ve been talking about my battle with clinical depression. This has allowed me to reach millions of people who also deal with that subject.”

Looking Ahead: The Future of “Loose Women”

As “Loose Women” embarks on its next chapter, the show’s dedication to authenticity, inclusivity, and open dialogue remains unwavering. With new platforms like the upcoming podcast and continued special events, the program is poised to reach an even broader audience, ensuring that diverse voices and stories continue to be heard.

In an ever-evolving media landscape, “Loose Women” stands as a testament to the power of conversation, proving that when women come together to share their experiences, it not only entertains but also educates and empowers.
