Warwick Davis received the highest honor at the EE BAFTA Awards on Sunday, being awarded the prestigious Fellowship.

Davis dedicated his award to her, saying, “Above all, I would like to dedicate and thank my wonderful wife Sammy, who died almost a year ago. She was always so supportive of my career and encouraged me to grab every opportunity with both hands.”

She was diagnosed with achondroplasia, a bone growth disorder that causes dwarfism, while Warwick has a similar condition, spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia congenita. Davis had been by her side throughout her struggles, sharing in interviews how he had feared losing her. “The next few hours were the longest of my life as I waited on the ward with our children in the empty space left by Sam’s hospital bed,” he recalled. “I hoped it would not symbolize a future for us without her.”

Her passing in March 2023 devastated their family, with Davis describing her as his “favorite human” and their children remembering her as their “best friend.” Davis shared, “Her passing has left a huge hole in our lives as a family. I miss her hugs.” He also highlighted her resilience, saying, “She always saw the sunny side of life, had a wicked sense of humor, and always laughed at my bad jokes.”

It was recently revealed that Davis is pursuing legal action against University College London Hospital, alleging medical negligence in connection to his wife’s treatment. An inquest is set to examine whether her medical care contributed to her untimely death. The case has yet to reach a conclusion.
