Professional dancer Nikita Kuzmin has shared insights into his strong friendship with his *Strictly Come Dancing* co-star Vito Coppola 

as he steps in to dance with Vito’s partner, Sarah Hadland, while Vito recovers from an injury. 

This unexpected situation has led to an interesting dynamic on the 2024 *Strictly* UK tour, 

where Nikita is temporarily filling in for Vito as Sarah’s partner until he can return to the stage.

Vito, who had been paired with actress Sarah Hadland on the latest series of *Strictly*, was forced to take a step back after suffering a lower back injury. 

While the show’s cast has come together for the UK tour, Vito has had to miss several dates to allow time for recovery. 

He revealed during an appearance on *This Morning* that he’s experiencing sharp movements being tricky due to the pain, and although he can walk and move around, he needs rest and treatment. Vito expressed hope that he would be able to return to the tour by January 21, in Sheffield, after undergoing physiotherapy.

Meanwhile, Nikita has stepped into his role, forming an unexpected yet harmonious dancing partnership with Sarah. Nikita opened up about the adjustment, acknowledging how unique and different it is to dance with Sarah, given the strong bond that Vito and Sarah share on and off the dance floor. “It is getting used to it. Obviously, at the beginning, it is getting used to a new person,” Nikita said. “From my side, I need to understand that Vito and Sarah have a relationship and a way of dancing. I need to ask Vito questions on how they do it, so I can help her.”

Despite the challenging circumstances, Nikita seems to have embraced the opportunity to work with Sarah. “It’s wonderful. It’s actually really a blessing to dance with her,” he added. His commitment to making Sarah feel comfortable with the transition is clear, as he continues to learn their dance style and ensure that she has the best possible experience despite the change in partners.

When asked about his relationship with Vito, Nikita emphasized the closeness of their friendship. “I think it is impossible not to keep in touch with Vito. We are probably sleeping next to each other on FaceTime,” he joked, revealing the deep bond they share both professionally and personally. Their friendship has been a constant source of support, and Nikita’s willingness to step in for Vito speaks volumes about their trust and camaraderie.

Vito’s injury, while unfortunate, has not dampened his spirit, as he continues to stay positive and focused on his recovery. In a recent update to his fans, Vito shared, “I am definitely feeling much better. I am doing all my physio and my therapy. Hopefully, next week I am going to be back. I just want to wish the best of luck for the tour. See you soon.” Despite being sidelined temporarily, Vito is determined to return to the stage as soon as he is physically able.
